Today’s readings are all about temptation, a familiar force in all of our lives. We all know the story of Adam and Eve and the “Blame Game” we can use when we find ourselves in a similar “fix.” In the Gospel we see Jesus showing us how to handle those struggles when they insert themselves into our daily activities. Psalm 51 reminds us how to pray when we fail.
Generous God, huge in mercy, wipe out my guilt. Help me to always be ready for the sneaky way in which temptation tries to make a home in me. Grace me with an extra amount of your gift of wisdom that I may see the efforts being made by my own selfishness to lead me astray. I trust in Your guidance to be there when I am in need. I place myself in Your gracious hands. Amen
