Gospel: John 20: 1-9
Easter , it seems , has been a long time coming! It seems as if Lenten sacrifices were thrust upon us. What was God thinking? Or rather what have we been thinking? These past months have been filled with days and weeks of pain, isolation, suffering, sacrifice, loneliness and confusion. Our Lent was not what we expected! We lost control!
As followers of Christ and believers in God’s loving care, we have been given the opportunity to RENEW our faith, hope and love in so many unexpected ways. So, that kind of “softens the blow.” This terrible “situation” could/should/would have been a time of spiritual growth for each of us. Did we take advantage of these times?
The reading from John shows us again, that there are Angels all around ready to be of comfort to us, to help us, and confirm God’s love for us. I talk to my Angel a lot. I don’t know what I would do without Heather! Yes, even when the going gets tough, the tough should get going! We have all the help and grace we need. HE IS RISEN! HE IS TRANSFORMED! Can we do or be less than what Jesus has called us to be? Yes, examples of faith , hope and sincere love for ALL of God’s people.
LET US PRAY
Risen Lord, God, continue to strengthen me each day with your abundant grace . Shower me with your courage, move my heart to have compassion for those in need, and true forgiveness toward those who have offended me and kindness toward those I have offended. My your lasting and ever present love be seen in my resurrected faith, hope and love. Thank you for the Angels that you have given us as they continue to announce that you are here, we need to just be aware.
I ask all of these things as I remember and celebrate all that I believe! Amen!
