On April 6, 2019, the Sisters’ spirituality center, Oldenburg Franciscan Center, will be sponsoring a day of reflection on the dignity and sacredness of all things woman. It is a day of enlightenment with a keynote address and activities that will feed the body and soul. The day runs 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the center and includes the following:
Keynote: St. Clare, whose name in Latin is CLARA, LIGHT, was truly a brilliant spiritual light to the people of the 13th century as well as to us in the 21st century. She shines as a model of indescribable joy which comes from finding one’s treasure—a life lived in total dependence on a God who loves us unconditionally—and “selling“ all to buy it!
Breakout: In a small group breakout session we will discuss Women of Light historically and contemporaneously. We will consider women like Dorothy Day, Barbara Brown Taylor, Kathleen Norris. Sister Elizabeth Johnson and others who help us define and fulfill our own personal calling to be Women of Light.
Breakout: Reflecting on our desire to radiate Light through Darkness, we will creatively “illuminate” our inner courage and let our light shine. No artistic aptitude is needed. Simply be ready to be surprised and even delighted in the process!
